Addiction

As a Family Addiction Specialist, I’m here to guide and listen to you during this difficult time. My approach is always one of compassion and without judgement. The goal is to foster self-reflection and personal growth so that life can be lived in a more meaningful and positive way. I often use Gestalt, Person Centred, and Compassionate Inquiry techniques, as well as other approaches such as mindfulness and positive psychology in order to help those suffering from addictions build resilience, strengthen relationships, find better coping strategies and develop perspective on their situation. By creating an outlet of empathy, emotional comfort and trust, we can work towards progress – in hope of ultimately finding a better balance during difficult stages of life.

If you find yourself unsure of who you are, struggling to maintain your individual identity and looking to other sources to seek approval, it may be time to reach out for codependency support. A therapist can help you identify when your boundaries have been crossed, and direct your attention inwards towards the resilience you have to detach.

“The only people who get upset when you set boundaries are the ones who benefited from you having none.” – Author Unknown.

With the right support, it is possible to break free from codependent relationships and enjoy fulfilling personal connections with others without sacrificing your own identity along the way.

Co-dependency
Anger management

Anger management provides an opportunity for you to explore the sources of your anger and to try out different ways to manage it. Drawing on Gestalt, Person Centred, and Compassionate Inquiry techniques, as well as mindfulness-based approaches, I work with you to have a better understanding of what triggers your anger, practice self-awareness and explore more constructive models of dealing with intense emotion in order to create more helpful ways of managing strong feelings. Through working together you will have access to a range of tools such as breathing techniques, exhibiting mindful awareness, expressing yourself with ‘I’ statements and taking time outs from potentially triggering situations. As we work together my aim is to help you increase your capacity for self-reflection and develop healthier emotional responses so that you can make better choices in everyday life.

As a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, I understand that grief is a complicated and individualised process – one that needs to be navigated with patience, understanding, and compassion. Grief can be experienced from any kind of loss – from the death of a loved one or pet to the end of a marriage or estrangement with a family member. My approach to counselling centres on providing therapeutic support while fostering an environment in which it is safe for you to reflect, explore your feelings, gain insight and work through your loss. I also emphasise non-judgmental listening and will help you find ways to manage stressors as well as provide effective coping strategies. With my support, you can learn to adapt to challenges in healthy ways and move towards acceptance after experiencing a significant loss.

Grief and loss
Self-worth

Low self-worth can be debilitating, making it hard to experience and appreciate the beauty of life. That’s why I offer tailored self-worth support to help you recognize and celebrate your inner greatness. Together, we will work to challenge any negative thinking patterns that prevent your growth and instead foster a healthier attitude toward yourself. We will also explore ways for you to build resilience, set boundaries in healthy relationships, and engage in activities that bring joy and purpose. Socialising with friends or peers can further help you connect and boost feelings of self-acceptance–and I’ll be here every step of the way, cheering you on as you realise and reclaim your worthiness.

Relationship counselling helps relationships of all types; couples, marriages, siblings, friendships, workplace conflicts, and more. Working together helps build trust and learn to successfully heal relationships. There are many tools that can be used during our time together to reach objectives such as learning to communicate effectively and positively, setting attainable goals together, navigating complicated relationship issues respectfully, and understanding how the differences in your partnership can bring you closer. During this process, it is important that you feel heard and understood so we will take the time for each of you to express yourselves fully. My aim is for us to get to know each other in the course of our work and create an open dialogue so we can safely explore how you would like your relationship to evolve.

Relationships
Family Counselling

Rebuild relationships, establish healthy boundaries and strengthen connection with one another through family counselling. Family counselling offers a nurturing space for families to explore new communication strategies, tackle conflict resolution, and ultimately, deepen their connections with one another. As a therapist, I am here to guide you through these challenges, assisting your family in restoring damaged relationships and establishing necessary boundaries for a harmonious co-existence. I collaborate with various family constellations, such as children, parents, siblings, or unique combinations like father-and-son or sibling pairs, in both joint and individual sessions. Additionally, for families coping with issues like substance abuse, providing a safe environment for healing is of utmost importance, making my role all the more vital. Together, we can navigate these difficult conversations and empower your family to grow stronger in unity and understanding. Don’t hesitate to reach out for the support your family deserves.

When you attend our support groups and workshops, we make sure that you have the knowledge and skills to understand abuse and addiction and make informed decisions in your life. We prioritise providing information, personal feedback, and encouragement to ensure that everyone in attendance is comfortable working through topics like boundary setting, recognizing when a loved one may be dealing with an addiction, understanding the importance of self-regulation, and much more. Understanding these matters are critical for personal growth and well-being. My goal is to make sure all participants feel comfortable learning about topics such as these so you can make decisions confidently from a place of insight into who you are and how to best respect yourself.
